You going? Anyone else?
I arrive in DC Tuesday.

I'm too swamped for the foreseeable future. I could have gone if it
were on the weekend. But all those civil servants and contractors
wanted the mid week conference - that way they still get paid for
attending.

Wow - that does suck.
Actually it was a special case, the day before it took just over an
hour and a quarter. The issue was there was a very bad accident on
part of I-66 where there was no place to bail, and all the lanes were
blocked off. Unfortunately we were about a half mile behind the
accident and completely

So, I'm trying to find a good hotel and most of the ones mentioned are near
Tyson's Corner. I seem to remember that's a pretty hip part of town
Cam, Tyson's Corner *will* have good metro access once it's completed,
right now it doesn't, the Silver Line extension doesn't open until next
year.
Your best shots for hip and fun are either stay in the Dupont Circle
area, there's a gazillion restaurants..and night clubs or Old Town
Alexandria,
You know what - it's actually Dupont Circle that I meant to say. Silly me,
I'm not in DC much and got them mixed up. So - sounds like I'm looking in
the right spot.

Also why I try and work remotely when I can. I've found that I'm about
3 times as productive working remotely than working in the office.

I remember right there's also several Capitol Bike Share Program

Still a pedicab in the DC area during the summer is a great way to
tour the area.

still you'd probably want the Dupont Circle area. Better to walk to
the conference from a short distance than get lost on the Metro.

We are wrapping up a project that uses it and have some other projects
coming up that use it. For me, it's a
Also one issue I do have is that it is in DC. I really don't want to
have to commute into the District, and the hotels around the area are
expensive.
That said just looking at things I may be able to use the VRE and
metro (shudder!).

I just registered - I'm definitely going. The suggested hotels are all int

the speakers so I can network and chat them up to learn more...
Once I figure out where people are staying I'm booking the hotel...

it looks like I'd be able to leave the VRE and get one of two
different metro lines to the nearest metro stop from the conference.
This may be quite doable. I'll also have to check whether any want to
share a hotel.

As for hotels I'm a big fan of having my own room, but I am sure there are
others with different opinions.
Definitely let me know if you decide to go though, I'll buy you a beer. And
if we get in a fight, I'll be sure to throw you in a swimming pool or
something... :)

On Mon, Aug 13,
The beer definitely. Besides I gave up on fighting years ago. These
days my 7 year old probably could clean my clock.
Now enthusiastic discussions sounds good.
