She mentioned that. Hence the need for UPS power for the phone and dsl
modem plus a cell phone as an alternate.
I do really love the brillance of the POTS lines being self-powered
though. One of the most underrecognized technical implementation
details of a communications system.

Yeah, but like any other VoIP service, it doesn't work when the power is
out.

That is something to consider. There's no problem with 911 services with
them is there?

Nice!
I love Speakeasy! I use them for DSL only, but have been considering adding
VoIP to my services with them. Speakeasy will also let you get DSL through
them without paying the phone company for dialtone, which is nice.

Googling "spoof ip voip" actually returns quite a bit of info. None
of the few I looked at has specific instructions. I assume you've
thoroughly googled already?

I have no idea. I don't actually have the VoIP service, just data. I
use my cell as my home phone.

I went the VoIP route about a month ago, today my provider (Speakeasy)
announced that they are adding free calling worldwide to 22 countries
including the UK, Austria, China, Ireland, New Zealand and a bunch of
others.
This includes the US and Canada which were previously offered.
