Y'all, Just got my special order CD: "Jazzin'" by Tito Puente (God rest his soul) and India, featuring the Count Basie Orchestra.
I first heard India's voice belting on the movie "Luminarias" and just had to have more. She has the technical voice perfection of a tuning fork, the range of Mariah Carey, and the soulfulness of Billie Holliday-- all with a deep latin flavor. Her voice synchopated to Tito's beat and backed up by the Count's horn section is just incredible. Artful, yes, but it also makes you stand up and MOVE YO' A**!!! (which, in my case, becomes a short study in the physics of inertia and, to some extent, workplace safety do's and don'ts.) Wheeeeee!!!
