Don't quote me, but I believe you need to use the Nintendo unit.  However if
you have one lying around feel free to try.

Just the inability to install driver software - I'm sure that Nintendo used
off-the-shelf parts - if you could figure out which chip is in their adapter
you probably find the same one cheaper in a PC package.
