Sorry to hear that. I like his writing but on the other hand isn't he kind of a one-note wonder? Aren't they all cautionary morality plays about the dangers of the pace of technology outstripping the pace of humanity's moral development? -Patrick >-Original Message- >From: Raymond Camde

My half-way-through no spoilers review. God it sucks so far. So far this is the worst book I've read from Crichton. What is sad is that there is a darn good story in here, but it is surrounded by bad characterization(spelling is wrong I'm sure but I haven't had my coffee) and preaching at a level

Jiim, I can say that I have loved every book he has written. One of my favorites is Air Frame, which is about an investigation into an accident that happens on a plane. Congo was 10 times better than the movie. Jurrasic Park was also quite excellent. On Wed, 8 Dec 2004 19:08:03 -0500, Jim Davis <

Andromeda Strain. When I first interviewed for my current job, I was given a tour of the facilities there. All the time I couldn't help thinking of that film. There are more labs of that biosafety level (BSL 3 and 4) around that most realize. larry On Wed, 8 Dec 2004 17:13:01 -0700, Dana <[EM

Eaters of the Dead is an interesting novel. Just enough real background to lend credulance to the book - I recently got a modern translation of Ibn Fadlan's chronology of his trip to Scandinavia in the 12th or 13th century. Some of the stuff Crighton includes apparently happened - like the funerals

I really liked eaters of dead tho I don't usually read best-selling authors. I remember liking one of his early books about a rogue germ, but I don't remember the title. Dana On Wed, 8 Dec 2004 19:08:03 -0500, Jim Davis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > -Original Message- > > From: Raymond
