Just great.
Google and Apple are gathering location information as part of their
race to build massive databases capable of pinpointing people's
locations via their cellphones. These databases could help them tap
the $2.9 billion market for location-based services—expected to rise
to $8.3 billion
I must have made a mistake.

Just pointing out the Phone co's are helping so wouldn't sue.
I just saw the picture and noticed you have to plug your phone in. I
thought they scanned your phone without your knowledge.
Conclusion:
You're an idiot if you hand over your phone and then complain about
illegal search and seizure.

That's just for the iPhone though - according to the article the wee
beastie that the MSP are using can suck data from any smartphone.

I really am.
You should have seen my face when my company brought me a new blackberry a
few weeks ago. I think it's sitting in a drawer at home somewhere :)

Apple probably built it.
It's probably all public information since Google took over our
privacy years ago.
I imagine every airport screener has one and it'll soon be installed
at traffic lights.

I would be telling the cop he is welcome to search my phone or anything else
for that matter if he has a search warrant and that I would be more than
happy to wait until he can produce a court document showing that a judge
authorized it...otherwise, he can just go fuck himself.

So they stop you for having a taillight out and then search through
all your pictures, text messages etc. and STORE them on an external
device?
That is completely ridiculous.
I wonder if the court that agreed cell phones were exempt envisioned
police doing this to citizens.

I don't see where the police have any need for pulling this data
unless it's a phone that is discovered in associated with a major
crime investigation.
Until Later!
