You are allowed to fund a new IRA for the current TAX year, even if you open your account in a new CALENDAR year. So if you open a Roth IRA today, you can fully fund it ($4K) for the 2006 tax year, and begin deposits for calendar year (and tax year) 2007. So, technically, if you opened an account r

I'd agree with you - I've seen nothing about joint IRA's. I did figure out that my husband can go the TIAA-CREF route, since I'm elegible. That might just be the easiest way to do it. On 2/20/07, G Money wrote: > Are you sure about that? I think the "I" in IRA stands for "individual", and > your

Are you sure about that? I think the "I" in IRA stands for "individual", and your spouse would have to have their own account, in which they could deposit an additional $4K each year. I don't think you can have a "joint" IRA.can anyone confirm that though? On 2/20/07, Jacob <[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have a Roth IRA through Scottrade. I manage it myself and my IRA grew 14%. Last year was a very good year. I invest in either Exchange Traded Funds or no-load mutual funds. I max it out every year, except for 2004 when I was purchasing a house. You can put in $4000 this year if single and $8,

my advice is to go no-load. Seriously. Ameritrade -- well. If you are convinced that stock x is the way to go. You really want to diversify as a rule of thumb though, and that means funds usually, especially if you are not very conversant. Dana On 2/19/07, Deanna Schneider <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wro
