I have a AvelLink Player from IO-Data and am insanely in love with it.

It's a networked DVD player that plays (either from a USB drive/key, a
network server or a burned disc) pretty much all MPEG, Windows Media (both
audio and video), DIVx and XVid files (the latter two are the most common
AVI format online I've found).

It'll also play everything in HD if the file is HD (I've actually taken to
NOT watching some shows - like "Battlestar Galactica" - on air and waiting
for the HD versions from SkyOne to be uploaded).

It's not perfect (the remote, especially leaves a LOT to be desired) but it
gets very frequent firmware updates which address issues and add features.

I think they're still have a sale on refurbs for $200.

But most of my complaints (for example the incompatibility with my component
switchbox) have been addressed by later firmware updates.
