I actually agree that unions played an important role in the creation of
basic workers' rights in the early 20th century, but they overplayed their
hand badly and have left once great American giants like General Motors
fetid corpses.

I've got nothing particularly for or against trial lawyers. Unions are
great though. Some of the implementations of unions can be less than
what I'd hope for, but like democracy, I think they are a
fundamentally good idea and we just need to work to make them the best
we can.
