I was thinking this woud be a good gift for my grandpa. He's a tough one

yes - I think Howard will create momentum in the Sirius direction and
it needs it as it has the weaker brand. Both of these companies are
just beginning so a large move in either

I bought my father Sirius last Christmas, and he would not even try to live
without it.
The unit came with all the same accessories (in house docking port, car docking
port, tape and fm car hookups, mounting brackets, etc.)
We bought an extra car unit to mount in his bass boat.
The programming
Adding to what the other have said - Sirius has NPR if she likes that
and no commercials. From a business perspective I think XM has the
more compelling case, but Sirius has the better product (could be a
Beta vs VHS thing though).
Sirius is partially owned by Mercedes so they offer it exclusivel
listen for three days before you decide:
