I found the Trojan Midgare last night in some obscure file on the machine as
well.
I'm just cleaning these things up as I go. Strangely, IN MEMORY scans don't
show that the system is infected by anything.
I also still haven't figured out how or why the Spyware realtime blocker(s)
allowed the

Spyware doctor caught some things in the System 32 directory, and I thought
that was that.
But then other issues kept popping up. That iexplore.exe process in
Taskmanager kept running
sites of ill repute. I'll look
