Just as for a local measurement of liquid water content, I would
need a standard name for a local measurement of effective radius of
cloud droplets.
Given the existing names and the construction rules, I would go
for : effective_radius_of_cloud_liquid_water_particle_in_air.

Concerning the "in_air" at the end of the name, you have a broader
view than mine on the ensemble of standard names, and I see no reason
not to follow your advice.
