I shut off the firewall as one of the first tasks without results but it
never occurred to me to shut off avast!. What the hell is wrong with me? :(

CF11 just sent me my test email ...
Now off to configure avast to not fuc# with CF

tried that first a few days back and again just now.
The error messages I was getting yesterday "No SMTP server defined" makes
it seem like it does not see the neo-mail.xml file, though the CFadmin
clearly does.

Could it just be the password is not what you think the CF7 machine has
configured? Try the cfmail test with user/password/server (IP is Russ
suggested) from the CF7 machine. That might tell you if the password is
off.
Any antivirus or OS firewall on the CF11 machine possibly blocking the

are you use a FQDN for the mail server? if so, try using the IP address
instead and see if that helps. Might be some weird dns caching issue.
