Gmail is acting really weird today...
Jim Davis and Brad Wood's last posts were just listed in my
conversation. I responded to Michael's last post, but never recieved
the two preceeding it until just now. Re

HoF = House of Fusion, the site that runs all of these lists and more. :)
As for the e-book, I've contacted Eben about it and asked him how he wants to
go forward with it.

It has to do with the ups and downs of the print industry. There were a number
of CF books a few years ago and that kind of flooded the market and caused less
of any specific book (other than ben's) to be bought. As a print run costs a
nice chunk of change, once the current stock was out, a book

The e-book version is a bootleg and I'd talk to the author before getting it.
If the book is out of print, a small donation to him might be a polite thing to
do before getting it.

I am reading this book using O'Reilly's Safari service. I lik the book
for the same reasons Nando mentioned. Also, it familiarizes you with
Sun's site and the Java documentation.
There is a more generalized online tutorial that I am taking

I've enjoyed it so far. I really appreciate how he sorts out for you
what you need to know, effectively walking the reader thru a tour of
the Java world from the perspective of a CF web developer. There are
complaints that the examples have errors in them, and while

I'm looking to getting into the OOP side of things... and was wondering if this would be a good place to start. I've read some of that authors other books ( a coldfusion 5 title ) and really enjoyed the author.
If you have the book, how was it? good place to start for Java?

Java for ColdFusion Developers
If you know your way around Java, then using it within CF is a snap.
Basically, it's all exactly the same, except for constructors:
Java:
-
Socket s = new Socket("10.10.1.1", 80);
s.close();
ColdFusion (CFSCRIPT):

I wrote this article for the lastest issue of the CFDJ

don't know the syntax, because I always use CFSCRIPT or CFSET to do
everything.
