For me the FTP-Server module of IIS was of low quality/features.
(I can remember I had problems on virtual directories too)
I kicked it out and installed Deerfields FTP-Server "Serv-U". I like it a
lot.
It is amazing how nice it works and it is even very cheap.

Is there some trick to getting IIS' FTP server to add a virtual directory?
I've tried to do this a couple of times and it never seems to work.
