Thanks the log did give us enough info to find the problem.  It told us the
host name was not found which told us that somewhere on the server the ip
address for the mail server was wrong.  It turned out that in one place it
had gotten changed to an IP address behind the firewall.   We fixed it,
rebooted and are back up and running now.
