That seems somewhat strange, as the MSDE I'm running looks and functions the same as SQL Server 7, except it "theoretically" is bandwidth/connection limited. The copy of MSDE I'm running was included on the Office2k disk. I run MSDE as a development engine, and connect to it from anywhere, same as SQL server.
-----Original Message----- From: Joshua Miller [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 12, 2002 9:53 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: SOT: MSDE w/ CFMX on 2 Machines I've heard some talk recently on the list of MSDE (SQL Desktop Engine) and it seemed interesting enough to download a copy and try it out ... I have Enterprise Manager already, so I can login and administer the MSDE connection visually, but I'm having an issue with connecting to the database from another box. Is it possible to run MSDE on one machine, CFMX on another and then map DSNs across the two? Is there anyplace that you can change login/permission settings for MSDE? It appears to use the Local account and not a SQL 'sa' account - anyone have any experience in this arena?
