Microsoft's latest and greatest.
As I understand it's more a suite or platform than a single product. VB is
now VB7.net, C#.net stuff like that. It's now Visual Studio.net, which
actually is a pretty nice app, still in beta, you can write a VB app, or a
C# app or whatever else from the same
..net is Microsoft's future. It's Microsoft's answer to Open Source initative.
It is Microsoft's biggest gamble.
If .net fails ... well!

Several things. At its heart it is a distributed platform upon which
networked applications can be built. The reason .Net is so nebulous is that
Microsoft has created new compilers, languages, and applications for .Net,
as well as recompiling much of their traditional server application platform
It's just a name for Microsoft's new platform, etc .. for info, go to

as underlying technologies. The .NET series of server products are supposed
to facilitate the creation, distribution, and support of .NET applications.

My understanding is that it's an architecture which allows applications to
be built on several languages.
I'm sure there's more-that's just my rudimentary interpretation.
And again, you should really keep your posts CF oriented, Phoeun.
