Google Bar has an option to keep auto fill functionality but to turn off
yellow highlighting of form fields.

It was part of the upgrade to IE and I have no idea what it's for,
and how come some form fields are yellow and others aren't. But
apparently our life is better because of it.
I too wish it'd go away.
