No, it's not a stupid question, and yes, they can - this is how you
typically manage state across a cluster. There are a couple of things to

the way to go, unless you have a lot of complex data to store in the session
scope (excluding CFCs).

Yes you can.
In my environment I have my local computer for quick development and a
common dev server, they both point to the exact same dev MSSql server.
