cfdocument and file saving

I'm sure I'm just having one of the moments, and that there is a simple way to do this. I'm creating a pdf document using cfdocument. I would like to save the pdf to the server rather than displaying it in the browser. My ultimate goal is to attach the pdf document to an email. If anyone can
