One method you should look into and I'll post back an example later is checking out the microsoft's filesystem object. You could possibly call it as a com object in coldfusion. One example of this can actually be found at: http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/
