Right,
A big event run by a commercial company, not for
profit?
Sounds like a load of crap. Just because it doesn’t
make a profit isn’t the same as it being NFP.
I don’t see any references anywhere on the
site to it being NFP which is normally splashed everywhere when it is.

Its run by Daemon, and to my knowledge is _NOT_ run to make money, but
to build community. THIS community.

I'd be surprised if there's any $$$ profit from WebDU. the size it is,
breaking even is a best hope...
Dale, I'd agree with you if it there were (many) more people in AUS

I really doubt that bringing the thing to, say, Brisbane would
actually work - financially and enough people to create a "vibe". As
it is, a fair

You know it's Daemon's conference? Sure Adobe and others (Microsoft,
Straker, Gruden, Nectarine, RocketBoots etc) sponsor the conference
but at the end of the day it's something Geoff at Daemon decided to
start up off his own bat.

WebDU looked pretty successful last year (?) ...
I'm not really sure why everyone likes to hold big events in Sydney.. Though
off the top of my head.

the size - lots of places to do, things to go etc

besides, for us Queenlanders it gives us a chance to get away from our

That's a lame reason.
Adobe aren't in Vegas.
If they want this thing to grow and be successful, it needs to travel
around. If it was in Melbourne I'd send my whole team, I can't do that to
Sydney.

Whether it is a survival tactic or not, I definitely have a need for a
free version for use inhouse for a small number of users.

My rant for the day,
Shouldn't this conference be moving around? There is a large user base in
both Victoria & Queensland.
Why is it in Sydney again?

Do we *really* want to open that old discussion all over again? :-)
I don't think there's anything new that could be said. There are those who
see CF in pending doom, and others who've heard it all before over the years
and continue to make a great living with it. Nothing's perfect, but it's not

may offer a bug fix. I'm not aware of that problem myself.

Thats amazing as I haven't been able to achieve even that result. I
found that if I ran the debugger or should I say it was running, I
called my coldfusion page which had a CFC invoked in it. I got an error

Charlie,
FD support sent me an update, and it now
works for me and it was discovered in some cases to be a bug.

I would guess "no". The CFC explorer is a CFML app running under the CF
Admin directory, and it simply invokes your CFC. If you're expecting code to
have run before the CFC is invoked, it will not have run it. This is perhaps
one of the reasons that there's a recommendation (best practice) against
