does this apply to anyone using Zeus for load balancing or does it

Hey all,
We're setting up our production boxes, and we would very much like to
take advantage of the 4GB of ram sitting on them.
Currently if we set the heap size in CFAdmin to larger htan 1.4 GB, CF
refuses to start up. I'm wondering if there is a way to push this
value up higher, as we tend t
I don't know a helluva lot about Zeus :) - But I would say yes this
applies if you have ColdFusion webservices that are load balanced by
Zeus. Any applications calling the webservices may fail as a result of
an incorrectly generated WSDL.
The only reason I thought I should write about it is becau
Not sure about CF8 but I found in CF6 and CF7 that I had to create several
instances and cluster them to effectively get more than 1.4GB of RAM available
to the application, you can obviously only do this in a JRun exposed
(multi-server) install.

Hi Mark, I believe the 1.4GB limit is a side effect of running on Windows.
To make full use of the servers available memory, you migth need to run
multiple instances of CF and load balance them.
I did read (somewhere) that you need a 64bit OS to utilize the 4GB memory.
Ie: Running 32bit Tomcat on 6

Hi Mark,
you will find that the heap size is limited to various values, depending
on the underlying JVM and on the operating system.
On Windows with a JVM 1.4.x it used to be something around 1.2/1.3 GB,
that increased to roughly 1.4 GB with JVM 1.5 .
A while ago I heard someone mentioning tha
We're running Java 1.6, as it's a CF8 install.
I'm not a hardware guy, so I have no idea, but will a 64 bit
architecture allow us to give more RAM to the Java Heap?

After seeing some of the new features of CF8 at CFCAMP last week, I
thought I had better start experimenting with CF8, my first 'project'
was using the cfexchange features and felt it would be selfish not to
share my experiments with you guys - in total it took about 2 hours to
complete. I have up
