Coilovers generally require perches/brackets to be welded to the rear axle housing and a crossmember welded in for the coilovers to attach to on top. They are generally used for straignt line drag racing performance. The biggest improvement is due to the shocks being mounted straight up and down ve

Anyone collect 65 Chevelle literature? I found a couple of 65 Chevelle
original magazine ads mounted on white posterboard in nice shape at a
garage sale for a couple bucks each that I'd pass along at cost if
anyone's interested.

Speaking of ebay, did anybody else spot an aqua colored SS
advertised as a '66 a couple of weeks ago? The thumbnail did not look quite
right, so I opened it up, and lo and behold, it was a '67! I sent an email to
the seller advising it was not a '66, but a '67, and got no reply. I never

All I can say is no one will bid on or buy that car unless they are filthy rich and naive about these cars.

The heater controls on the '66 and '67 are the same. But the A/C is
different. I bought a complete set of A/C arms from OPG for $60.00.

Mike's directions are good. For an added measure of safety when I did mine,
we ran a chain through the spring and the lower control arm and then
padlocked it together as a safety catch, in case the spring decided it
wanted to fly out of there.

Pelle, I don't know where to send you for instructions, but I can tell you
how I remove springs safely. Get the front end up and on jack stands. Put
the stands under the frame approx in line with the firewall. Remove the
wheels from both sides of the car. Take the cotter pins out of the ball
joint
If the motor is in the car, put a floor jack under the lower control arm and it will stay there when you separate the upper arm from the spindle. I've taken apart quite a few front suspensions on Chevelles and have never had the spring come flying out. It's not taking it apart you need to worry

Should I use coilovers or std coils & shocks at the rear?
I'm going to change coils & shocks but haven't decided whether to

Does coilovers replace both coils & shocks?
Do I have to do any modifications to the rear?
