Nice choice on the ARE Outlaw I. I've had a set (15x8
& 15x7) for probably 8 years or so. First on my 67 SS then moved 'em
to my 67 Elky - see dalesplace.com below. The really nice thing I
like about most of the ARE line is they are clear-coated...never have to
"polish" them. Clean 'em,
i had the same problem, ended up going with a chrome aftermarket dipstick,
has the bracket to bolt it to the exhaust, and if you dont like the chrome just
scuff it up a bit with some fine sandpaper and paint it to match.

Small blocks do not have the same little bracket extending off them to bolt it to the manifold that the big blocks have. The only way to do it is to enlarge the hole a bit. I have the same problem with the one in the 350 that is in my 86 Cutlass. I just never pay any mind to it.

I think you really have to have the tube fastened to something, like a
manifold bolt, to keep from having troubles with a wobbly tube or leaking.
Mine just did not feel right until I welded the mounting tang back on and
bolted it down.

Jim,
Mine is the stock dipstick on my 325/396, it should
have a tab that one of your exhaust manifold bolts
goes through and hold it in place.

I had that problem once. I removed the tube and enlarged the end that goes
in the block with a series of center punches. It doesn't take much.

No, I'm not calling anyone that.. I just want to know
how to get mine (actually the stick AND the tube) to
stop spinning around in the hole in the block! I
tried good ole Permatex but it didn't hold for long..
Thanks,
Jim

As much as you have your car off the ground, you

We hit the 50s here in Cleveland. I was hoping to take my '70 for a quick
blast, but it was raining by the time I got home from work. :-( Should've
left early.

Wow! Never saw so many rims. Thanks for the response. I'll spend many hours looking. Kind of wanted the "outlaw" Series 61 type? American racing.
Thanks again

That's cool Jim! I want to drive mine but it's up on jack stands (again)
and the valve covers are on their way to Minnesota! In a couple weeks I
should be able to take it for a spin! Like you said - "C'mon Spring!"
