Thanks for the info but SC is too far to go on a long weekend trip.

Hey Mike,
The reason I posed the question was that I have a 67 2 door hardtop Chevelle, that came with 10 bolt and drums and I have 2 67 elky's one that came with dual piston discs and 12
bolt, was just wondering if possibly I could take the body off of the hardtop and put it on

I looked through a bunch of old magazines and found a
picture of the Air Cleaner assy used on Smokey's 66
NASCAR Chevelle in the Sept 2001 edition CHP. In
fact, the assembly has two air entry horns. Both
connect to the fresh air intake that was used for Air
conditioned cars, I guess. Well here is
JD, The Elky is 2.9 inches longer than the Chevelle. It shares
the chassis with the Chevelle wagon. I wish I could tell you exactly where the
extra length is,but I'm not sure. I think it is only in the rear frame boxing. I
don't believe it would take much modification to put the Chevelle body
All '67s have 115" wheelbase. The Elky frame is
longer overall with the extra length coming AFTER the rear axle location.
I had a .jpg showing the differences at one time, but I'll be darned if I can
find it. A hardtop body will fit but some length of the frame must be
removed from the ba
There can't be a mismatch on the VIN in the locations you mention, IF you
mean by the firewall the body number plate (trim/cowl tag). That is NOT a
VIN (vehicle identification number). What's on the a-pillar is the LEGAL
VIN of the car. If it's been changed, then there's a problem. The

There should be a vin stamped underneath the weather

six or seven inches down from the upper corner.

Looks like I have a line on BPC turn signal switches (not the GUIDE type,
but the "other one" that seems to be so elusive). I'll be placing an order
tomorrow, so let me know if you are interested. I'll have pricing by
tomorrow.

Hi All,
I remember recently someone on the list said that the El Camino Frame
was 4 inches shorter or longer than a 2 hardtop. Could someone confirm this?,
and could any one tell me if the body from a 2 door hardtop would fit the frame
of a 67 El Camino.
I have found them on the top of frame rail, under trunk, drivers side when I
blasted a frame.Left side rail.

I have gone through previous information. Looks like there should be a
partial VIN (last 6 digits) on the Right Rear frame rail, behind the axle,
of a '66 and '67 Chevelle. Can anyone confirm this? I'm trying to help a
guy that has mismatched VIN's in the firewall and door frame of a '67.
