Randy, The restoration guide says " The upper portion should
be painted in 0 degree gloss and the lower portion in 30 degree gloss."
The paint color codes they list are in Dupont, 30 degree is 99L and 0
degree is 4428L. In Ditzler it's 9000 for 30 and 9317 for 0. Your auto

interior paints and such, I thought I would wade in with a question.
I have a 1968 SS El Camino with a black
interior. I used SEM Trim Black for the exterior grill, grill extensions etc,
which matched perfectly to the original finish, but in comparing that
to the ex
John, Powder coat process requires heat. That is not an option
on a dash unless you plan on removing it from the car. Strip it to bare metal,
apply a good self etching primer and paint with a good quality paint such as a
urethane. Unless you want a high gloss you will have to flatten the pain

It depends on what you mean by chemical stripping. If you mean dipping the
body, I would recommend against it. With dipping you need to have the shell
absolutely bare. This will take all protective coating from areas you will
never be able to coat w/o E-coating that will start to rust immediately.
