I would say it is, or was, in direct competition. Just the same as the Ford
Lightening SVT is, or was, in direct competition with the mustang. Both in
two different markets, more or less in two different price ranges, but yet
both can be made more powerful then the other. They each just offer

Not gonna argue that the LS1 Camaros & T/A's aren't great cars. But I
dont think that a 30-35K car is in competion with one selling for
45-50K. You are looking at 2 different markets. I believe that
the Camaro died because GM just didn't want to make the investment.

Whoa whoa whoa… I have a 01 Camaro
SS and it beats any same year or earlier ‘stock’ car including the
corvette, GT, and cobra. With a low rating of 335 hp stock and after my
SLP upgrades pushing it to just about 420 (RW) I am going up against the
current cars as well. The explanation that
Good Point Walt.. not to morph the thread.. but one of my best buddies
just got done with a 2002 Formula Firhawk and upgrade./ Replace all the
LS-1 stuff with the go fast goodies of the LS -6 ( some up grade package
from GM perf. Parts ). Couples that with some aftermarket exhaust.,

The new mustang sure does look good and Ford and Chrysler have been doing a pretty good job for us guys that like the old stuff or "retro look". At work we use Ford trucks and vans but I got a chance to buy a Chevy van this year and boy am I dissappointed. I think my 69 Chevelle has more metal
Well, for the longest time the only decent GM vehicles were full sized
cars and trucks. Even the Camaros and Corvettes were of questionable
quality. As much as I was brought up to dislike ford (little 'f' to
honor my father) I have been quite impressed with the new Mustangs, and
god do I secret
The GTO is certainly a performance-minded
RWD platform. It runs low 14s. So is the Caddy CTS-V, and I believe
these are two distinct chassis. It might take a couple more years, but I
believe we’ll start seeing more RWD stuff from GM. The Pontiac Solstice
has allegedly been green-lighted
Shawn,
I think you hit the only Highlight...GM Trucks..decent power and

The other positive is the LS* Sbc.

They've abandoned the boat and seem to be taking a rusted girls schwinn. I can't believe the super crappy decisions that have come from GM in the last 10 years. I'm still seething about the 'new' Impalas. I had a '95 SS and it was an incredible car, now it's been reduced to a front-wheel-drive no f

I hate to say it but I feel the 05 mustang is the best looking car in
the lineup. A good looking affordable car to many. GM has really
screwed up dropping the f-body without a valid replacement.
