What makes a true SS?... the VIN. At least prior to 1969 it does. 69 and up
gets trickier as everything from the cowl tags to the build sheets can be,
and has been, duplicated.
I'm personally real bored of SS Clones. It is so overdone it has bored me to
death. I don't really think it takes
I agree with Clint. Im 58 and
I guess kind of from the old school, and what someone does to their car is
their own business and can or can not be appreciated by everyone for the work
done. But what really ticks me off is the guys that do it and
attempt or do pass them off as real SSs. I
I think we all agree that no one should
sell a clone as a real SS and that everyone should build their cars how they
want them to be. If your going to put some serious money into one of
these cars you should enjoy it and if it takes SS badges or options then put
them on. No matter what
I am 40, own a numbers '66 SS and wanted the real thing. Personally
there's satisfaction knowing it's real, it has survived, it's not a copy,
agree that clones are a dime a dozen and satisfaction comes by being able
to tell someone it's real and not a look alike. I also agree with it's

Larry,
If your going to do it in piece work (one
part at a time) I thinkyou will need to sand the Uroprimer down to bare
metal (check with a DuPont rep) before epoxy primer. You'll need to take it off
anywhere you need to do body work anyway. You can then do your filler work and
epoxy
Hi, I have a 69 chevelle that is stock with a 6 cyl. 3 speed saginaw,
I have a 396 that will replace the 6 cyl. and I was wondering if anyone
knew whether the 3 speed would work with my 396 long enough for me to
find a 4 speed? Or should I not bother and just wait?
Thanks in advance!
Don

Trooper,
What you're saying makes sense. Is it any harder to
mix/shoot an epoxy primer?

I'd wait unless you are very anxious to get it on the road -
and who isn't. Remember that the spline count on your 6 cylinder
tranny input shaft may be different than the 4 spd will have.
Then you'd have to buy a second clutch too.

Don,
My Elky came with the same thing.6 cyl/ 3spd on the tree. I put a 350 in it
and kept the 3 speed. Good news, flywheel worked,. The Saginaw had no holes
in the tailshaft for a shifter so I used an POS Indy shifter. Bottom line
is. The shifter sucks, can't stand the 3 spd anymore, and I CAN'T
