In effect what I was saying was; If he knows the motor is a 454 then it
couldn't have been built before 1970. All the footnotes he referred to
applied to 1968 and prior motors.The only assumption I made was that he
knows its a 454.

Be sure to lubricate your bolts, not only the threads, but any where metal will touch metal, ie. under the bolt head. This will increase your bolt load with the same torque value.
