I did the stetoscope thang and located the source to be under the valve cover! No arching from the ignition cables found but I'll swap the plug with another cylinder to rule out cracked spark plug insulation. A fellow gear head on a Swedish list thought it might be a stuck valve at #4? I'll

I adjusted all the valves today the ticking disappeared (but returned slightly after a while). I think it's the lock nut on #8 cylinder that's unthreading it self. Even though I thought it was #4's valve that was the problem. I dont know why the sound dissapears when i disconnect #4's plug!!??

I always start with the easiest fix. No juice, no click, no nothing theacc's work. Assuming it's a good battery, dirty or poor battery contacts.It's not the corrosion you can see, it's what you can't see between the cables the posts. Try cleaning the cables posts check all contacts. Somebody

I agree with the solenoid idea. Also keep in mind just because a cable looks good doesn't mean it is. You can never get enough ground in my opinion so I have a new ground cable from the battery to the head on the engine (not the alternator bracket)as well as the heavier wire also from the
