If you buy a new one, see what connections it has for hoses. You may find
that the more modern boxes also need custom hoses. I went that way, and
then when it came time to rebuild that box again, I opted to have my old box
updated so I could use stock hoses again.

I really want to try one of the new Saginaw 600 boxes. These units uses a
pinion valve similar to that found in modern rack & pinion systems for a
more precise feel. The 600 box has a 12.7:1 close ratio.

Some say the quick ratio can be tricky to get used to. I would recommend
having your existing gear box and pump rebuilt. Several places do that
(Google search). Probably new hoses. Thats what I did and couldnt be
