Let's see if I can shed some light onto your problem. I would suggest that
you call up your favorite part supplier and order up a new set of hoses. I
would also HIGHLY recommend that you go ahead and get new cylinders. We
tried to replace just the hoses on our 71 and the threads(plastic) on the
Andre if you are talking about the 4L60 (aka 700 R4) and not the 4L60E
then you will be able to install it very much like a turbo 350. The parts
list is fairly short... 700R4 core from a 90 truck, dipstick, converter
cover and kickdown cable from a 88 camaro, and a manual lock up valve for
the conv

Just as a FYI for the early cars you have to cut about 2inches off of the
elky frame to make it fit a malibu. We have a elky frame under my uncle's
64 conv. Other than sectioning the rear frame rails it was a dead on
match, bolt hole to bolt hole.
