bob, i just got my virus removed , i don't know where it came from. i've been away on vacation and had alot of emails from the chevelle list. apparently this virus attaches to unread emails and randomly sends out to these unread email addresses. i had know idea this was happening until i got into my email today. i sincerely appologize i did not send this virus out knowingly. i am a victim of this virus just like everyone else. i hope you will let the michigan police know. i hope they catch the assholes who started this virus thanks mike

Just a couple of notes:

1) Norton anti-virus 2002 will remove the virus as long as you run it in 'Safe Mode' Either way you still have to make some Registry changes to completely remove the Virus.

2) I would like all Chevelle list participants who received this Virus from Mike Wood to email me directly with any details about the email that you received. I have reason to believe that Mike Wood sent this out intentionally. I have contacted the Michigan State Police and will be contacting the FBI today. I am fed up with the 'Terrorist's' who get a laugh at others time and expense.

Sincerely,

Bob Hiller

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Virus information update

To all Chevelle.net members,
I am sorry for any trouble that anyone had by my friend opening the attachment from Mike Wood. I have seriously chewed out his ass. My Norton Anti-Virus 2001 program did not catch the virus because the automatic update was not updating the virus definition file. It was only updating the program and not the virus definition file. I had to go to  http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html to manually get the new virus file. It found two infected files, kdll.dll and kernel32.exe. The virus starts out as Readme.mp3.scr and changes to News.doc.scr, humor.mp3.scr etc, but virus is really the W32.badtrans.B@mm virus.
I did not start the virus, but from all the emails returns and messages from service providers about detecting a virus, it has been sent to everyone in my address book and every website I have been. Again I am sorry. If you do not open or save the file you will be OK. I would update your Virus Definition Files for whatever virus program you are using. I am seriously embarrassed about this.
I work on computers and if anyone has this virus and needs help restoring these two files, please email and I will give you instruction on how to do this repair. The Norton Anti-Virus program is not able to repair the files so you will have to manual replace these files from your Windows 95/98 installation disk. If you want, you can send your Thanks to Mike Wood:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Because he did not response to my email about the virus, I would say it was intentionly
