there are two small plug on wires on the solenoid,one has power for coil in ignition position,the other has power in start position.try switching those two around.

check your  vacuum modulator-if the diaphram leaks it will suck trans. fluid into engine and burn it so you won;t see any leaks

junk!saginaw only uses one set of roller bearings on cluster shaft,very weak.I've trashed two of them

If you don't have the equipment to set up bearing preload &ring and pinion mesh depth,you could do more harm than good!
