not if you need a old 12 bolt
not if you need a old 12 bolt
Tom,
The name "12 bolt" rear end is referring to the 12 bolt carrier not
the 12 bolt cover. So what your describing is a 10 bolt Olds rear end.
It makes no difference if it has a 12 bolt cover.

So if someone is selling an "Olds" 12 bolt they could be trying to pull a fast one?

not really because it is still a 12 bolt, and it does have a 12 bolt cover just like the Chevy rear.

Is there any diffrence between a chevy 12 bolt or
a olds 12bolt?

It's my understanding that the pinion is smaller (like an 8.2") on the
Olds 12 bolt.
Stick with the "chevy" 12 bolt if you can, especially if you're going
to run a lot of hp or run with sticky tires.
take care,

Olds 12 bolts have bolt in axles, no C clips. They use 10 bolt carriers. There
