Hey all, thanks for the answers, I found the trouble...loose wires in 2 separate places. The radio works like a charm. Original Delco still working.
See my other post about alternator charging system upgrade question.
Thanks,

the new distributor system may be producing radio frequences and basically scrambling the radio and keeping it from working. That may be the cause but a simple way to usually fix it is to twist the wires together in that area like you see done in braids in someone's hair. From: Ken's EmailSent: Saturday, January 18, 2003 11:02 PMSubject: [Chevelle-List] Dumb Delco Radio question for 67 Chevelle SSHope this is not a lame question for my 1967 Chevelle SS.
Question: I recently pulled the 396 engine and had a friend install a unilite distributor system to replace the points and condensor. Prior to these events the Delco Radio was working. Now, the radio is not working.
First I will check the apparent loose wires in the trunk where the 6 x 9 speaker is.But, my question is would any of the two events above, re: engine removal or changing ignition to unilite affect Delco radio, e.g., removal of condensor ? Duh ?
Personally, I do not think it is related but who knows.
Second, if I take it to my friend to trouble shoot the radio, advice on troubleshooting ?
Third, assuming the Delco radio is not working now and I want to keep the original look of this numbers matching 67 SS, do I have the radio repaired or just have an upgrade CD player/radio installed and place it somewhere out of sight (e.g., glove compartment box).
It was nice to have the original Delco radio working but to repair it costs more than a more modern CD/radio player.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken McDee
