Back in 71/72 I worked a parts counter for a Chevrolet
dealer and whether it was "law" or not then I can't say but it was a truism then
as well. GM "generally" kept most repair/replacement parts on the books
for cars up to 10 years old. A lot of common parts are still available
from GM as
