Does this reinventing of classic cars have anything to do with retaining
the nameplates? I seen to recall that the auto makers can only hold onto
the nameplates for x number of years before they go public domain??

Yeah they did. It's sad they keep trying to reinvent the nameplates. In all
fairness, our generation of cars did it too, but they were a lot closer to

if i'm not mistaken here, but when the "real" chevelles were being
produced, I thought it had to be a Chevelle before a Malibu,
Malibu being the level of luxury above a 300 or 300 Deluxe series. So

I think ur friend is mistaken about a new chevelle. I am a hotwheel
collector and in hot rod mag. it says this is what it might look like. they
are not bringing back the chevelle.
