I took a few days off my regular job this week so I could work on the 71 and
hopfully get the thing finished up so I can sell it faster (nobody likes a
disassembled car) I have spent the better part of 2 full 12 hour days stripping
the surface rust from where the vinyl top used to be.. Man i
hines it up and doesn't run

Back in my youth.. Wayy back there! I had a 66SS with vinyl top and I used a black paste wax that was sold for vinyl tops. It went on like a shoe polish and dried. I would them take a rag and wipe it clean and it left a natural shine protection etc. I had not complaints except I do m
on my original top, i used to use black shoe polish!! looked great, but
alot of work!
I had the top replaced and just use soap and water now to clean it. I don't
put anything on it.

I used to put armor all on my top but now I use mothers vinyl protectant.

I use Pledge (usually lemon) on vinyl interiors; I can't
see why it wouldn't work on a vinyl top. Plus you'd
have a good chance of winning the "Best Smelling"
award! ;^)
