Having left my 64 Malibu with 283 and PG trans sit for several years I decided it was high time to see if it still ran.
I pulled the plugs a couple days a head of time and flooded with my favorite penetrating oil (Kroil) so rings wouldn't be stuck.
(spin motor with plugs removed to blow out excess and not hydraulic the engine)
Changed oil and antifreeze, filled tank and carb with gas.
It ran and then stopped.
Turned out fuel pump died.
Master cylinder was empty, not good!
Tranny almost two quarts low, not good either!

Moral of story?
If you have a car parked it probably pays to run it and move it under its own power so things don't get stuck and or leak.
