Seems the problem is in the content-type egg, and it boils down to the
tail end of the regexp:

this problem. Works for me on OS X/Chicken 2.5 and Gentoo Linux/Chicken 2, Build 2, both using latest readline egg. When was the last time it did the right thing?

It's fine if you want to support it... I hope lots of people find it
useful, and I hope it gives you satisfaction to contribute. Just try not
to be too heavy handed about it... chucking autotools would not be a
good move.
