I saw this also with the Chicken package on Ubuntu. If you compile
and install from source this shouldn't happen. (Don't worry, it's
quite painless to install from source.)

I am trying to set up my Chicken Scheme on a Debian (5.0, stable) box.
Current, I have installed the deb packages chicken-bin and libchicken3
on the system, and am trying to setup some eggs.
When I call chicken-setup postgresql, the compiler encounters error
like this:
