I would leave the dew claws alone. I once had an adult dog have them removed. He was in so much pain and wouldn't even walk for quite awhile after the surgery. I can't stand them and remove them from all my puppies at 2-3 days, but I would never have them removed on an adult dog again. The p

Personally, I do not remove dew claws. There are cases where dew claws have been caught on something and torn and the pain from that can be really bad, but in most chis I have seen, it is rare that it happens, and to me the risk is small enough that it does not justify the removal. Of course, t

Dewclaws tend to be the ones that get hung up in blankets and shirts etc. i have seen some that the dog tore off tying to free their foot from whatever they got caught up in and then you have a royal mess. Also i saw a long haired dog that had been at the groomers and the groomer cut the dewcla
