No, no gears.dll was installed, and no plugins folder was created. This
happened with
both the Chrome and Chronium "offline" installers. I also used the
chrome.google.com

Did you install the gears.dll properly? I'm pretty sure it needs to be in
Plugins\Gears\gears.dll relative to the exe (though I haven't played with a
trunk
build in a
