Status: Unconfirmed Owner: ---- Labels: Type-Bug Pri-2 OS-All Area-Misc New issue 7476 by dbl...@google.com: tab-to-search behavior changes asynchronously - not reproducible http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7476
Chrome Version : 2.0.160.0 URLs (if applicable) : Other browsers tested: Safari 3: N/A Firefox 3: N/A IE 7: N/A What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. I have a search, "http://www.google.com/search? q=site%3Aen.wikipedia.org+%s&btnI=x", with the keyword "wiki". 2. Type "wiki<tab>" in omnibox What is the expected result? The omnibox displays a light-blue rectangle saying "Search wikipedia:" and waits for me to type a query. What happens instead? It depends how fast I type. (*) The omnibox auto-completes to "wiki.corp.google.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/Mondrian", with everything after "wiki" selected. If I type <tab> while that's still displayed, I tab to the first field on the current web page. If I wait about a second, the selected text disappears and tab-to-search works as expected. --- Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. This behavior was reproducible for a while (an hour), but has stopped happening. It's likely that what made it stop was pressing <enter> and going to wiki.corp.google.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/Mondrian once. What may have started this behavior is pressing shift-delete on that entry (which did not remove it from the history). Prior to today, for months, the behavior (still not the expected behavior) was that the omnibox would autocomplete as described in paragraph (*) above, and the tab-to-search wouldn't work. If I typed "wiki<backspace><tab>", then it would, since the <backspace> would delete the selected text. I have another search which still displays this behavior, but I can't reproduce the asynchronous behavior. Also possibly significant, wiki.corp.google.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/Mondrian used to be the top choice on the omnibox's dropdown list; now it's about fifth. "Search Google for wiki" is now first, followed by "wiki/", followed by "Search wikipedia for <enter query> ... Keyword: wiki" -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
