The IT guys wont allow me to turn off mcshield. But they upgraded me to a
new version
of it to see if it would help.

i noticed this problem in 2.0.168.0 and previous 2.0.166.1 too (on XP).
it's a bit
complicated to describe, but, yes, it randomly freezes.
