I did uninstall the Flash plugin, rebooted and it works fine. I have also
reinstalled the latest version of the Flash plugin (10.0 r22) and it has
been working
for a day

I removed all the Google Gears sites and the hangs still happen, but "seem"
to be
shorter.

I uninstalled the Flash plugin (because I saw some people had problems with
it), but
it didn't solve the problem.

I have the same problem.
It happens many times, mainly (but not only) when I close a Gmail tab.
In fact, almost each time I close a Gmail tab...

I've tried to disable GMail offline and restart, but the problem still
happens
