You can build your own fundraising page and see how much you can raise. http://www.firstgiving.com/ One of our chief projects is raising funds for 1000's of Mosquito Nets for the Akha of Laos. We need quite a large amount for this, and a lot of highly motivated people willing to get involved. So get out there, build your own fundraising site, set a goal, invite your friends and raise funds for Akha projects. Akha Human Rights Network and Akha Books are two other areas of need. The PUNK ROCKERS in EUGENE, OREGON ROCK and they helped raise funds for a digital camera for the website, and the Akha Journal and Akha TV. Thanks to all of you, nomads in Eugene, ever helpful and real. They heard about the project one week, and by the next week they were raising money. Thailand, and a few others did a trip to Singapore to see Ms. Wongsa, the Akha woman in prison there, and they determined that she was a victim of trafficking on her first visit to Singapore and that she had been exploited by a Thai brothel in Hatyai called The Rose. Six weeks later the only report F.A.C.E. could release was a rough draft, and the official report is still not coming. Quite beside the point is Ms. Wongsa, still sitting in jail, and of course the brothel in Hatyai is still open and "no crime" has been committed it would seem. The repeated efforts of myself and other people to get the report has not been very successful, to this point. The people in Singapore are waiting for the official copy so that they can proceed to defend Ms. Wongsa and relieve her case. An early release and a dropping of the ban to return to Singapore, and making way so that she and her fiance who is from Singapore, can get married. These NGO's get paid to help fight trafficking or help the victims of trafficking. F.A.C.E. is on the UNESCO website, but we sure wouldn't give much for their proficiency at getting anything useful done. ****** We always think it is odd how christian organizations who work full time to destroy Akha culture and identity, like the ethnociders Paul and Lori Vernon, put pictures of TRADITIONAL Akha people on their sites. http://loriandpaul.hopedenver.com/ Same with CGT and Rotary.
